Pa Harakeke

Pa Harakeke or "Harakeke World" is located below the Pureora Mountain, beside the Kakaho Stream and next door to the Pureora Forest Park. It showcases harakeke (native flax) a valuable resource for Maori in pre-European times and now in demand as a natural fibre and for the medicinal properties in the gel.

Pa Harakeke is open 7 days a week during summer and 5 days for the remainder of the year. Our friendly and experienced staff are locals, and are eager to assist those who venture into our neck of the woods and are perhaps in need of sustenance, shelter, transport or information. Pa Harakeke first opened to visitors in March 2009 and offers visitors
